The Mississippi River has crested in Grafton, IL. and the massive flows of debris have subsided. So it’s time for us to move on down the river. We are headed to Alton, IL today and then on to Hoppies dock just south of St Louis. Its an iconic stop for boats doing the Great Loop.
On Monday night Dorothy and I organized a Looper happy hour at the Grafton pub. We expected about 15 people to show up, but through the power of social media 35 Loopers showed up. We toasted the Crest of the Mississippi River and met wonderful people we will see again.
The next couple of photos are of the high water compared to the last blog.
We took a little car trip the other day and found some of the missing Aids to Navigation along with a bit of the debris.
Is that NOAH, or NOAA? In either event, I’m glad the water is starting to recede and you won’t need an ark. Striking photos–thanks, and be safe!
